With generous support from the Good Food Innovation Fund, we have successfully launched a targeted initiative to promote the consumption of fortified wholegrain flour in Rwanda, targeting school children. This support enabled us to enhance our production capacity, conduct community education campaigns, and work closely with local health and nutrition stakeholders. As a result, more families now have access to nutritious, fortified flour that addresses micronutrient deficiencies while preserving the natural benefits of whole grains. The donor’s contribution has been instrumental in advancing our mission to improve public health and food security across Rwandan communities.

As a committed player in the agricultural value chain, we are proud to be a member of the Eastern Africa Grain Council. This membership has opened doors to broader market opportunities across East and Central Africa, enabling us to engage in cross-border trade, harmonise standards, and align with regional grain policy frameworks. Through the council, we have access to vital market intelligence, networking platforms, and policy advocacy that enhance our competitiveness and credibility. Being part of this regional body strengthens our position to scale operations, foster sustainable trade partnerships, and contribute to food security across the region.

A pledged investment of $700,000 will be strategically directed toward scaling the production of nutritious foods, focusing on fortified flours and wholegrain products. The funds will support upgrading milling equipment to improve efficiency and nutrient retention, the procurement of high-quality fortification premixes, and expanding distribution networks to reach underserved communities. Additionally, some investment will fund nutrition education campaigns and farmer training programs to ensure a resilient supply chain. This pledge marks a significant step toward improving food security, combating malnutrition, and delivering healthier food options to families across the region.

Through the invaluable technical assistance provided by GAIN through the Nutritious Foods Financing Facility (N3F), experts supported us in business planning and market research to promote the consumption of fortified flour in Rwanda. This guidance helped us refine our business model, identify key consumer segments, and develop targeted marketing strategies that align with needs and preferences of Rwandan and DRC consumers. The market research offered critical insights into consumption patterns, price sensitivity, and distribution channels, enabling us to position fortified flour more effectively in both urban and rural markets. This strategic support has strengthened our ability to scale impact sustainably while addressing nutritional challenges in these communities.
