We outsource 3 types of grains from the region, (65% from smallholder farmers). They are dried, cleaned and sorted to be sold to processors and markets where they are used for different purposes.

  • Moisture Content: Does not exceed 13.5% to prevent mold growth and spoilage.

  • Foreign Matter: Limited to a maximum of 0.5%, ensuring purity.

  • Inorganic Matter: Capped at 0.25% to maintain quality.

  • Broken Grains: Does not exceed 5%, preserving grain integrity.

  • Rotten and Diseased Grains: Must be less than 2% to ensure safety.

  • Total Defective Grains: Limited to 6%, maintaining overall quality.

  • Live Weevils and Filth: Presence is not permitted, ensuring cleanliness.

  • Aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1, G2): Must be below 10 parts per billion (ppb) to meet safety standards.

  • Moisture Content: Maximum of 13.0% to prevent mold growth and spoilage.

  • Foreign Matter: Limits vary by grade—Grade 1: 0.5%, Grade 2: 0.75%, Grade 3: 1.0%.

  • Inorganic Matter: Grade 1: 0.1%, Grade 2: 0.2%, Grade 3: 0.3%.

  • Other Edible Grains: Grade 1: 0.1%, Grade 2: 0.2%, Grade 3: 0.5%.

  • Defective Grains: Total defective grains should not exceed 2% for Grade 1, 3.5% for Grade 2, and 5.5% for Grade 3.

  • Filth: Maximum of 0.1% across all grades.

  • Aflatoxins: Total aflatoxin levels must not exceed 10 μg/kg, with Aflatoxin B1 not exceeding 5 μg/kg

  • Pesticide Residues and Heavy Metals: Must comply with limits established by the Codex Alimentarius Commission
