Agri Farmer Centre

During my 11 years in the grain and cereals industry, I realized the role played by smallholder farmers but the outcome of they get from farming is not near the effort they invest. I founded Agri Farmer Centre as a social enterprise with objective of buying maize and beans from these vulnerable farmers by contracting their cooperatives/associations as my suppliers. I was providing them a price that is 10% better than what the market was offering and still I was making my margins. I started with 3 women cooperatives in the eastern province of Rwanda and now I have 9 contracted cooperatives that cover 34% of our raw materials supply. AGRIFACE recognizes the importance of having healthier suppliers and that is why we sell back both fortified maize meal and porridge flour to our farmers at a discounted price (4 - 7%). We want to build an inclusive business to compete with other actors in the EAC market.

Our Services

FOOD PROCESSING

We process 3 types of fortified flours from a variety of grains and cereals. These flours are sold in different sizes to schools, farmers, health centers, and the public market in Rwanda and DR Congo.

GRAIN TRADE

We outsource 4 types of grains from the region, (65% from smallholder farmers). They are dried, cleaned and sorted to be sold to processors and markets where they are used for different purposes.

FEED PROCESSING

We manufacture 4 types of livestock feed from the residues of food processing. These are sold to small holder farmers in Rwanda and the region. This allows us to minimize the negative impact on the environment.

FARMER SERVICES

We offer 6 types of services to farmers. With private sector partners, we are able to help them access to critical elements of the value chain in order to make the optimum results of their effort.
